Mine doesn't really tend to hang up in fifth, but it sure does in second. I either wind it up tight or "ear tach" clutchless up shift. Always goes in if you skip the clutch. Just be ready for a real hard fore and aft lurch (which can snap a belt).
Just one of those things.
